Urban Pulses

for violin, violoncello, and piano
ca. 4’00”

I grew up in Hong Kong —a city full of energy and movement. The streets were always busy with cars and pedestrians hurrying to work or rushing back home; the metro was constantly packed with all types of people: students, businessmen, tourists, the elderly...; the shopping and dining districts were forever colorful and hectic and filled with the smells of mouth-watering eats; and the striking skyline was magnificent and awe-inspiring, the high-rise buildings a perfect symbol for the ambitions and the lifestyle of the people.

All cities around the world have some aspect of this — they have a certain buzz, a distinct pulse. Urban Pulses is a celebration of this tantalizing energy that drives the lives of these people.
