Skyglow

for orchestra
ca. 9’ 30”

Skyglow: a type of light pollution cuased by artificial light from human-made sources, such as the electric lighting used in buildings and advertisements. This artificial light reflects or propagates into the atmosphere, and is then scattered by dust and gas molecules, creating a luminous glow that is visible from great distances. Skyglow not only obscures the night sky and stars from human observation, but also disrupts ecosystems that depend on darkness, such as those of fireflies, nocturnal birds, and sea creatures.

Skyglow was written for the Curtis Symphony Orchestra.
